Tatty Devine 15th Birthday Workshop

So September 2014 marks the 15th birthday of Tatty Devine.  As part of their celebrations they put on workshops at the Southbank Centre in London every Saturday and Sunday during the month of September. I was lucky enough to be down this weekend celebrating my birthday and was lucky enough to get along to the last workshop.
This is me and my friend Hanna getting ready to start.

first thing to do was pick the shape of charm you wanted, I opted for the skull and Hanna chose the anchor.

next you had to choose your jewels

Then you had to make your design with them

after a few different attempts and once I was happy it was time to start gluing.  This was really fiddly and took some time.

here are our finished designs.

I absolutely love mine as it reminds me of the Mexican sugar skulls. I wore it today with my skull jumper.

Monthly interview May with Karen

This month my friend Karen is going to tell us about her jewellery favourites

1. My favourite piece is/are my wedding rings.the engagement ring was Bought in Aberdeen from Beaverbrooks 17 years ago and my hubby kept it for a whole year before I got it to wear! My wedding ring I wear every day a simple gold band which means so much to me

These are two other favourites Sheila Fleet rainbow ring and bedazzled bracelet..I know its only one favourite but I'm cheating lol!!

2. My most worn piece would probably be this silver 2 ball wrap ring I got at Moy games from a company called hi ho silver, I always receive compliments about it and they no longer make this design as I tried to buy for a friend.

3. Best gift at the moment has to be my Annie Haak dragonfly necklace from my Sister an unexpected Christmas gift.

4. Favourite shop/designer.. mmm I found this very hard to decide as I have lots of favourites, but a pair of earrings that I have were bought in Johnston's jewellers in Dingwall and as I love hearts, these are keepers!

5. I have my eye on this beauty by Alison Moore Designs, and as it was my birthday recently I was very lucky to have been given money..so guess what I will be buying!

Red Hot Dan - little people ring

During a recent visit to London I visited Spitalfield Market and met the lovely Dan.. Dan has her very own stall there, with lots of amazing jewellery.. Every piece is a one off.. There are rings and bangles made from thick plastic with different objects placed inside.. It took me some time to choose a ring as I wanted lots of them I really liked the ones with Lego in and the ones with photos in, but in the end settled on a clear plastic ring full of little people.. It was lovely to meet Dan who was chatty and passionate about what she does.. If you can't visit her stall then you can order through etsy or Facebook.. See the photo of her business card for more details..

April interview with Ace

This month my friend Ace is going to tell us about her jewellery favourites

1. What is your Favourite piece and why?

Favourite Piece...I bought this ring about 10 years ago from Past Times. Unfortunately they are no longer trading. I love it because it's a bit unusual and fits my sausage fingers perfectly! I very rarely don't wear it..It's a permanent fixture!

2. Most worn piece?

Apart from the ring I have just mentioned I have to admit I a stud earring, if I'm on a night out I prefer a dangly earring but otherwise I am definitely a chunky necklace with a nice stud earring kind of girl. My two favourites are a one off pair my sister in law Pauline bought me or my Ted Baker black n gold pair.

3. Best gift?

I have been a lucky ducky over the years and had some lovely jewellery gifts, my current favourite is a silver infinity friendship bracelet that my three bridesmaids (Pauline, Sen and Jess) bought me as a wedding gift. What makes it so extra special is that we all have one!

4. Favourite shop or designer?

I have quite a few shops/websites that I like to buy from as I like lots of different styles. I probably have most pieces from Fossil, I love their bright coloured bracelets etc for summer and have a turquoise necklace that is great with a maxi dress..
I also have started to use baublebar.com for their chunky necklaces, my most recent purchase is the Isabella Collar, only had it for two weeks but love it already.
Kate Spade is also a new favourite of mine, not purchased anything yet but chalking up plenty of her designs on my wish list!

5. Piece you want?

My wish list is always lengthy but two pieces that I have my eye on at the moment is a necklace by British born but Australian based designer Wayne Cooper, I have a few blue tops and dresses that I think this would go perfect with.. I don't just want this...I need it the other one is a Marc Jacobs chunky bracelet, it's available in either gold or silver with the strap in various colours. I love how chunky it is, it's a must buy! (Can someone have a word with my husband pretty please )

6. Most complimented piece?

At Christmas I purchased a silver feather necklace from my posh shop everyday I have worn it several people have complimented it so I reckon it was a good buy
A big thank you to Ace for sharing all her jewellery stories
